Pilbara Roundtable
Transitioning the Pilbara to a cleaner energy future means working together and building and maintaining strong relationships between the State Government, Traditional Owners, local Aboriginal communities, and regional industry and businesses.
The Pilbara Roundtable is a forum for this collaboration, bringing together Traditional Owners, industry leaders, and various State Government agencies to guide the Pilbara’s transition to cleaner energy.
Working Together for the Future
The first Pilbara Roundtable was held in 2022, with subsequent meetings informing the development of the Pilbara Energy Transition (PET) Plan - the State Government’s plan to accelerate decarbonisation in the Pilbara by unlocking the region’s world class renewable resources through new transmission connections. The Pilbara Roundtable is now working to progress the PET Plan, while also ensuring the region benefits from the transition to renewable energy. It helps support the State Government as it works to deliver the PET Plan's key work streams - common use transmission, regulatory evolution, land tenure, network modelling and Aboriginal participation - by providing a forum for industry and Traditional Owners within the PET Plan footprint to share their perspectives and priorities.

Reaffirming Commitment
Representatives from the State Government, regional industry, and local Traditional Owners met in Karratha on 29 April 2026 for the first Pilbara Roundtable since late 2024. Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA, Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation; Manufacturing; Skills and TAFE; Pilbara, chaired the meeting, with attendees reaffirming their shared commitment to the PET Plan and the collaborative delivery of new common use transmission infrastructure for the region.
