What’s happening at Waddi?
The Waddi Wind Farm is an important step forward for Western Australia’s energy transition. Located in the Shire of Dandaragan, this 108 megawatt project by Tilt Renewables utilises 18 of high-efficiency turbines. By leveraging advanced turbine technology, the project will be able to generate significant power for the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) while maintaining a smaller physical footprint. This approach helps maximise the benefits of the project while respecting the local landscape.

Project status
The Waddi Wind Farm began construction in early 2026. Following rigorous environmental and technical scrutiny, including specialist studies on noise, flora, and Aboriginal cultural heritage, the project evolved to better serve the needs of the SWIS while still minimising environmental impact. By using high-capacity turbine technology, the wind farm has been able to use fewer individual turbines than originally planned - while still generating a substantial level of clean energy. This means the project will have the minimal possible environmental impact, with the physical footprint of the turbines occupying less than 3% of the total project area. Crucially, the 220-metre blade tip height of the new turbines provides a safer vertical buffer for Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo and other birdlife.

Powering Western Australia for decades
Once operational, Waddi Wind Farm will provide clean, reliable energy for more than 30 years.

Location
The site is located 15km north west of Dandaragan and was chosen for its strong wind resource, minimal environmental impacts on agricultural land, and its proximity to existing transmission infrastructure.

Community benefits
The project will inject significant investment into the local economy, create jobs during construction and operation, and provide income for landowners hosting the farm.
Partnerships with regional suppliers and ongoing community engagement, including a Benefit Sharing Program, will help build skills and strengthen the Dandaragan area's role in our State’s clean energy future.
